Food! Fiji!
Suva, Fiji is home to the largest market in the South Pacific. It smells like a delicious blend of banana and spices, and the cool of the nearby ocean harbor. All sorts of people were selling all sorts of things! The spikey looking fruit is Jackdaw, whose seeds you extract by hand to eat the white placenta 'round them. I picked up a funny pizza recipe: Pizza (topped with) bananas tamarind chutney chicken yogurt
Vegetarian and local and organic, oh my! Growing Chefs was founded in 2005 as a way to teach kids (and their parents!) about the delicious, wonderful ways in which food gets from the soil to the kitchen. Annie's love of plants is translated here into recipes using local ingredients and ideas from wherever she travels. Annie's philosophy is simple: "Broccoli is not boring!"
