New Vegetable in LA, CA
A crunchy, watery tuber from a mint-family plant, my pal Kathleen and I tried some pricey CROSNES at the Hollywood Farmers' Market my first morning in LA. A recipe of French culinary origin suggests sauteing them in butter--alas, California has no Ronnybrook Dairy.
Vegetarian and local and organic, oh my! Growing Chefs was founded in 2005 as a way to teach kids (and their parents!) about the delicious, wonderful ways in which food gets from the soil to the kitchen. Annie's love of plants is translated here into recipes using local ingredients and ideas from wherever she travels. Annie's philosophy is simple: "Broccoli is not boring!"
